Cytocell's products are focused on the use of innovative DNA technology in the areas of molecular cytogenetics and molecular genetics. DNA FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) probes are the main product range currently available from Cytocell.
Take a look at the latest edition of Under the Microscope speaking with experienced FISH technologist, Carmen Vokaty, Assistant-Chief Medical Technologist in Cytogenetics at the McGill University Health Centre, about how her lab incorporated OGT’s Cytocell® Tissue Pretreatment kit into its workflow after struggling with a homebrew solution.

Don’t forget, during this period of continued travel restrictions, OGT (Oxford Gene Technology) are still able to offer you:
To avoid patchy hybridisations, make sure to press out visible bubbles when applying the coverslip on the probe mix.
Positively charged slides should only be used for FFPE sections. If these slides are used for cell suspensions, they may produce high green background.
Use a working reagent box that you take from the freezer instead of all of the probes to minimise light exposure/freeze thaws. Place the box back in the freezer as soon as you remove the probes you need for the day.
Use calibrated temperature-measuring devices to regularly QC hybridisation units; there may be significant slot to slot variability; this can get worse over time leading to poor results.
Test ramp up and ramp down temperature times periodically as part of equipment QC on automated hybridisation units, to ensure they are within manufacturer specifications.
In Vitro Technologies keep Cytocell’s most popular probes in our Melbourne based Warehouse so as to ensure delivery of Cytocell FISH probes within 2-workings days of our receipt of any Cytocell order.
myProbes is a custom design and manufacture service that provides unique fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) probes using the BAC-2-FISH™ process. This process utilises Cytocell’s proprietary BAC clone collection containing >220,000 clones to produce fully quality-assured custom FISH probes for virtually any sequence in the entire human genome.
Based on your specific interests and research, custom FISH probes may range from a simple catalog probe modification to a truly unique product.
The Aquarius range consists of directly labelled FISH probes for constitutional cytogenetic and oncology (both pathology and haematology) applications.
All Aquarius probes are supplied in hybridisation solution and are either ready to use or need simple dilution with additional hybridisation solution which is conveniently supplied in the kit.
The satellite, subtelomere specific and whole chromosome painting probes are available in a 5 test format whereas the microdeletion syndrome and haematology probes are available in an economical 5 and standard 10 test format. The probes are supplied with DAPI counterstain and full instructions for use and, where applicable, with hybridisation solution.
The Chromoprobe Multiprobe® System is an extension of Cytocell's proprietary Chromoprobe® technology whereby DNA FISH probes are reversibly bound to the surface of a glass device. The probes attached to the glass device dissolve back into solution once in contact with hybridisation buffer, whilst denaturation of the probes and target DNA occurs simultaneously under the device once heated. This approach both simplifies the whole FISH procedure and renders it safer and quicker to use.
This system allows multiple FISH probes to be hybridised on the same slide in a spatially separated manner allowing rapid screening of a patient sample for a number of DNA sequences in a single FISH analysis.
The assay is supplied in a kit format of 2, 5, 10 or 20 slides and includes hybridisation solution, counterstain, template slides, a hybridisation chamber and full instructions for use. The kit also contains a unique liquid crystal display slide surface thermometer for accurate measurement of the temperature of the denaturation surface.
ZooFISH covers our non-human FISH probe capabilities. This includes our ZooFISH Range comprised of Cytocell Chromoprobe Multiprobe OctoChrome Murine, Cytocell Chromoprobe Multiprobe Porcine and Cytocell Chromoprobe Multiprobe Chicken. It also includes our comprehensive range of Murine Whole Chromsome Painting Probes for the assessment of chromsome number, breakage or rearrangement.
